French White Burgundy

the chardonnay grape reveals its full potential in the region of burgundy. Pouilly-fuisse represents the maconnais region to the south, is fresh and crisp, showing less oak than the wines to the north. Chablis is known for its lean, mineral flavors, a slightly more acidic representation of the grape. These are the wines California chardonnay producers attempt to emulate.

California Cabernet's of 1997 & 1999, 97 & 99 Cab's

the years 1997 & 1999 in California had some special significance for a vast majority of producers. 1997 turned out to be a rollercoaster in terms of the perfect weather needed to make some magnificent wine. These are some exceptional wines with profound depth even after only 8-10 years. Some of these wines are once in a lifetime vintages at their zenith. The years 1997 & 1999 for California cabernet reflect some of the best of the decade for sure and some would say of the past couple of decades

considered the backbone grape of bordeaux's historically celebrated haut-medoc, cabernet sauvignon produces rich, powerful, densely colored wines with aromas and flavors that include black currants, cassis, chocolate, cedar, leather, tobucco, and herbs. Due to inherently high levels of tannin and acid and extended oak-aging. Cabernet sauvignon is capable of developing further complexity for decades in some cases.

Merlot

French for 'young blackbird'' no doubt referring to its dark-bluish purple hue, merlot has developed a strong following in recent years due to its approachable, velvet-like softness and round texture, showing flavors or blackberries, dark cherries, plums, and herbs. Merlot ripens earlier than cabernet sauvignon, and lesser amounts of rannin and acid result in wines that nature sooner, and are consumed younger.

Domestic White Chardonnay

chardonnay's wonderful reputation begins in burgundy, France, where it is responsible for the beautiful white wines of chablis, the cotes de beaune, and the maconnais. This reputation continues in california and the Pacific Northwest, where warmer climates produce big, rich, more austere wines, while cooler climates lend to develop more fruitful flavors. Barrel fermentation and oak-aging add depth and complexity.

the 'blush style' wines are often credited for heralding in the wine of the 80's and 90's. in any description of rhone wines, the same adjectives are reiterated: vigorous, robust, full-bodied, assertive.
